Full details of the meeting has now been posted below.
WAGA AGM 2022
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
Although COVID is still around we have been free from its main restrictions and have been able to pursue a near normal allotment year and now hold our first proper AGM since 2019, although the WAGA Committee has been meeting bi-monthly, outdoors, to keep the ship afloat.
Our three shops have remained open throughout the year and trading has been good. The major development of the West Tarring shop has paid dividends and we have proposals for improvements of the Chesswood shop but formalities with the Council have delayed progress.
Social events resumed, with the annual dinner, annual show, outings to Wisley, and Wiston Vineyard and finally the Autumn BBQ and show, plus smaller events on individual sites. All very successful.
Our newsletter, "Plotholder" has maintained a very high standard with plenty of contributions from members, and along with our website, Facebook and excellent posters on the noticeboards, communications with members has never been better. But people still say: "I didn't know"!
Membership numbers have remained high, with lots of new tenants joining, many with young families, and the future looks promising!
On your behalf I would like to thank the Committee for another year's hard work and am pleased that they are all willing to stand for re-election, so WAGA remains in good hands.
Finally, we have to remember the loss of our dear friend and colleague Paul Eustice. A remarkable man who did so much for the allotment world, and other worthy causes. So sad; we do miss him.
