Autumn Planting Garlic:
Caulk Wight (hardneck)
Selected from the best purple strip garlic found in Russia and Eastern Europe, this good addition to run alongside the popular Heritage Garlics. Large cloves, easy peeling vigorous hardnecks, they grow particularly well in our relatively soft UK climate, north or south, but can withstand temperatures down to -20C. Above ground it has a distinctive, dark green, vigorous wide leaf pattern and underground, the bulb is enclosed in tight leaf wrappers avoiding the pitfall of many hardneck types in our damp climate, of splitting and opening out. Origins: Eastern Europe Cloves: 8-10 bulbs
Rose Wight (hardneck)
One of the prettiest varieties of hardneck garlic with a creamy-white skin, delicately striped with pink. Garlic 'Rose Wight' boasts plump, rounded cloves that form large bulbs, with an intensely rich flavour. This variety is easy to grow and produces good crops from as early as June. A worthwhile crop for over-wintering in the vegetable plot. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 15cm (6").
Solent Wight (Soft Neck)
An improved selection of the popular Solent Wight variety, producing larger quality bulbs that many had thought impossible to grow. Long keeping to March and beyond the next year. An aroma and bouquet without compare giving excellent length and strength.
Approximately 14-18 cloves per bulb.
Elephant Garlic Can grow to 150mm across and weigh over a kilo. It has a warm mild garlic flavour and is increasingly popular with those who like to make a statement in their cooking or impress fellow growers.
